The Service Committee

Rotaract committees are the heart of our organization. Committee members meet outside the general monthly meetings to plan and implement projects and ideas that enable Rotaract to grow and contribute to the community. One of the priorities of Rotaract is meaningful service projects, both in our local community and internationally. We follow Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self". We're just getting started, but we've already partnered with the following organizations to make a difference.
Map-It!
In conjunction with our sponsoring organization, Columbus Rotary, the Service Committee organized a Rotary-sponsored service project, Map-It!, where we helped paint US maps on Columbus City School playgrounds. Afterwards, we all relaxed at a fun summer cookout. This was a great summer team building event we hope to help with again in the future!
YWCA Family Center
The YWCA Family Center
provides emergency shelter and supportive services. On any given
day they serve up to 200 people breakfast and dinner and 75-100 people
lunch. Our club is committed to this organization by hosting dinner at
the center. As a YWCA Meal host, we've agreed to cook or secure
food and serve it to the families, opening our heart and our hands.
We are raising money for this event through our club t-shirt
sales and are looking for volunteers to serve meals at different dates throughout the year.
Nationwide Children's Hospital
Small groups of Rotaract members volunteer in the craft room playing games with the children and their families.
Special Olympics
Groups of Rotaract members volunteer at various Special Olympic sporting events throughout the year.
Children's League
Small The Children's League helps young children with developmental delays. Columbus Rotaract annually adopts a family that is unable to afford Christmas gifts due to high medical expenses. All members buy a gift and bring it to a wine and appetizer holiday party where we wrap gifts and get to know each other better. Attached is a copy of the letter we received from the
childhood league after the 2007 event.
