The Signature Event Committee

Rotaract committees are the heart of our organization. Committee members meet outside the general monthly meetings to plan and implement projects and ideas that enable Rotaract to grow and contribute to the community. The Signature Event Committee is responsible for planning and organizing our Annual Columbus Rotaract Golf Scramble benefitting the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter.
Our first annual golf scramble was held on Friday June 19th, 2009 at Heritage Golf Scramble. The event was a huge success and Columbus Rotaract was honored to donate 100% of the proceeds to the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter. An article about the event is below.
We are proud to again partner with the Alzheimer's Association, Central Ohio Chapter for our second annual golf scramble - A Round to Remember. This years event will be held on Friday, June 18th, 2010 with a shotgun start at 8:30AM. Corporate sponsorships and foursomes are still available so sign up today!

Press Release - 7/1/09
Columbus Rotaract’s first Golf Scramble to support the Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter started off with a bang… or a rumble, of thunder that is. But a torrential downpour couldn’t keep nearly 70 golfers away – or put a damper on the day long festivities.
After the morning rainstorm cleared, golfers hit the links and enjoyed Heritage Golf Club’s course. Michael Horigan, Columbus Rotaract Vice President of Signature Event, enjoyed it most – his team placed in the scramble. “Today wasn’t about winning,” said Michael, “it was about supporting the Central Ohio chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, which supports Alzheimer’s patients and families. They provide great services and we just want to be sure they can continue to help families cope with this devastating disease.”
The event was also a point of pride for the members of Columbus Rotaract who raised more than $6,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Columbus Rotaract, which is sponsored by the Columbus Rotary, is still a fledgling organization aimed at young professionals who are dedicated to serve the communities where they work and live. Founded less than two years ago, its organization has 61 members and is growing. Heather Mills, Columbus Rotaract President, was thrilled with the success of the club’s first big event. “We’re honored we’ve earned the support of so many community members. We’re dedicated to service first, but we always have fun while we’re at it,” she said.
John Cooper, Ohio State University head football coach from 1988 – 2000, was also impressed by the entire affair. He shared football stories and his support of the Alzheimer’s Association when he addressed the participants during the award dinner and silent auction that capped off the days activities. Everything ended on a high – and dry – note when the Columbus Rotaract presented their gift to the foundation and the board members who attended and golfed in the event.
